DR. NO + MINISTER

Somewhere between Dubstep, Hip Hop and Garage lies the unique sound of DR. NO + MINISTER. Consisting of DJ Cubist and Scotty Hinds their musical collaboration began in 2009. One of the Big Dons in Australian Drum 'n' Bass, Cubist has been powering through his to do list. Releases on a number of reputable labels, a U.K tour which landed him on DnBTV and organising Melbourne's longest running Bass music night WOBBLE at The Night Owl since 2007. Plus, his record label COLOURS RECORDINGS took flight earlier this year with support from Grooverider, DJ Hype plus many more. He also presents the Sunday Night Drum 'n' Bass Sessions on Kiss Fm. Scotty Hinds is a badman on the Mic. He has been climbing the ranks of the Hip Hop scene with ease. Holding integral roles in respected groups such as NINE HIGH and most recently SMASH BROTHERS, Scotty has gained respect from both local and international Hip Hop artists. Thus, creating opportunities to collaborate with the likes of JEHST, SKINNY MAN & BLACK TWANG. He's also supported THE GAME and appears on the ARIA winning M PHASES album - Good Gracious. Blowtorch is the first single from the forthcoming DR. NO + MINISTER EP. Apparent, is the A1 production skills from the DR, within seconds of hearing the tune it's clear how much care has gone into this number. The tasteful placement of just enough wobble hooks you from the start and keeps you gagging for more until you press repeat. It gets better, MINISTER'S vocals are dope! This is not simply a case of a banger with a cheesy, gangsteresque sample but rather continuous, layered bars with meaning. It's an open forum if you like, choose to vibe out in the club... or take it in through your headphones. Either way you'll be covered.  However, what really sets this project a cut above the rest is not only DR. NO's production, or MINISTER's vocals. But rather the unique collaboration and warmth that is ever so prominent in their sound. Something like this can only emerge from years of dedication and straight up hard yards between the two parties. Both live on stage and in the studio.
